From Sri Lanka to the UK
There's an underlying theme you'll see throughout Exam Happy, and that's a love for learning. Mine started in Jaffna, a small village in the north of Sri Lanka. There was sadly a civil war going on at the time, so my family and I moved to the UK in search of a better life. From a young age, my parents would drill those words into me: "whatever you do, just make sure you focus on education." So I did. I sat the 11+, won a place at St Olave's Grammar School, and saw first-hand just how powerful a grammar school education could be.
The 11+ is brutally confusing for parents.
After ten years of tutoring, I'd worked with hundreds of families across the UK. The longer I did it, the more I noticed the same patterns playing out, again and again.
The parents I worked with were stressed — constantly. Anxious about whether they were doing the right thing, second-guessing every decision, never quite knowing if their child was on track.
One week they'd see real progress. The next week the scores would dip and they'd panic. The pressure was insane — and the kids felt it too. It felt like a broken system. Surely this couldn't be the only way to get a child into grammar school?
A place parents can just trust.
I built Exam Happy with one job in mind: take the stress out of the 11+ for parents. No more stitching ten resources together. No more wondering if what your child is practising is actually what's coming up.
So we obsess over making the content feel exactly like the real exam. Every question is written by real UK teachers and examiners with decades of 11+ experience. We interview students every single year after they sit the exam, so we stay on top of new topics and changes to the structure.
And we pride ourselves on not using AI irresponsibly — you won't find any AI slop here. Just exactly the content your child needs to pass, packaged in a way that keeps them motivated. Nothing more, nothing less.
