Exam details:
The Colyton grammar School exam consists of two papers that last approximately 50 minutes each.
Both are multiple choice and split into various timed sections with a break between the two tests.
The exam includes the following:
- Verbal ability testing verbal reasoning, vocabulary and comprehension
- Non-verbal ability testing shapes and objects
- Numerical ability testing maths and problem solving
There is also an additional English paper, which lasts for 20 minutes. The paper normally tests creative writing ability and is marked separately by the school.

Colyton Grammar School offers 155 places on the basis of an age-standardised score. If more than 155 pupils meet the required standard, places are allocated on the basis of their scores by rank order
